oil change

I thought my bike was due for an oil change. It had been like a few plus thousand miles.
I followed the line to the clip under the battery and figured out how to drain it out, using pliers to open the clip and free the hose.
I located the oil filter at the front of the bike and couldn't turn it off with my hand.
I figured out how to use a wrench they make just for oil filters. It came off pretty easy once I turned it to the left.

Before I knew it, there was a pile of parts laying beside me I kept stripping off.

In all seriousness though. The bike got stripped.

I tore out every wire, the brain, the relays, everything.

Made a bracket for the key switch on the engine mount after losing the housing around it.

Finally lost the handlebar controls. Pirated a throttle collar off another bike and tapped it out to work.

Relocated the starter button to the back of the starter.

Switched to points. This set was for a small block chevy.

Made solid struts since my shocks were shot. That slammed the bike down at good 5 inches.

Put a toggle switch on the headlight.

Other than not having enough time to cut down the cam cover, make a new seat pan, cut the pipes down, short the fender further, make a new air box, and a couple other things, this is the final product.

Add your air cleaner, your pipes, your seat, and your tank and you'd have the bike that's in our carport. Almost the final product.

That's an extensive oil change.

All I can say is WOW. It's really coming together. Only thing, lose the belt guard.

fuck yeah john.

how did you make those struts? them 'r pretty cool. how did get them all swervy and shit?

also, what do you use cor a points cam? that's really kick ass. i think i have a set of chevy 350 points...

they were swervy to begin with cuz i cut them down from fence posts.
i made the spacers with the lathe and then welded the pieces to the spacers.

the points i have are for a 69 camaro, then i added the tab for the female connector

nifty, i concur with losing the belt gaurd. chop the cam cover down, shave the sprocket cover, lose the front fender shave off the mounting tabs and do a 88" big bore kit. And those Struts do look super cool. nice touch with the curly wiring.

i will lose the belt guard when i convert to chain. shave the sprocket cover when i convert to chain and have it off. wont lose the front fender until summer...cuz i live in seattle and ride every day.
mounting tabs would be a waste of time because i have my eye on a speed demon frame steg said i could have if i buy the shovel to go in it. this bike isn't worth pulling the motor out at this point. but, if i ever do get bored, id clean the frame entirely of the excess tabs.

Go to work.

i think he was just talking about the fender tabs on the fork lowers.

and while we're on the subject, PIGPEN- buy the shaved lowers from EJ. be a man, man!
